Great site Man
Over the weekend I flashed the ROM on this raq4r without issues, however it took a full 30 hours to figure it out.
The issue stemmed from the ethernet connections. I deal with a lot of Dell servers at work, they are labeled 0, and I, not I and II, as far as eth0 and eth1 are concerned.
If you try to install Strongbolt or apparently, the Sausalito (550) OS on these units, with even a properly flashed 2.6.x ROM , on eth0 (I) its fine, on eth1 (II) it fails stating 'ip addr not set'.
Hind sight is 20/20 and I know it was bound on the install to eth0, and I even second guessed myself (without looking) a few times about the port the crossover cable was plugged into. A null cable would have fixed this obviously but I have never used one when installing 4 or 5 times so I opted not to again.
My fault; took all weekend, but ah none the less a raq4r running a CentOS 2.6.16 kernel and once again a workhorse as far as I am concerned.
Your site is great man, one of the most technical resources ever for these devices. I love this thing and will keep it running as long as I can, even if it is as a nomenclature. Thanks to, in part, your diligent efforts and great site.
Thanks,
-Jake

Any word on how long it will be before the remaining pages are up and running (fans, ROM problems, etc.) ?
howie:
At the moment I'm busy with other projects so not sure when I'll get back to this one.

Hi Howie, this is great!!
Should have found your page much earlier. I've a Qube3 that's still humming along and doing my backups, but also a stack of four RAQ4s.
Long time ago I managed to get one of them running RH7.3, but when I tried to repeat that with RedHat 8 (my all time favorite RH distro!!!) I failed miserably.
After reading your HOWTO page, based on CentOS 3 (also a very good version) I will again go ahead and beat these blue babes into shape :). Would be cool to have these four LCDs finally showing their hostnames and IP addresses.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the good work!!!
